Basic Elements of Energy Work

strangesigils:

windvexer:

Energy work is the ability of a person to control unseen energies. Almost all basic pagan/Wiccan/New Age/witchcraft exercises deal with energy work. Here is a short list of some of the things a young witch should learn.

Grounding. It’s extremely important. You may think it will be fun to carry around a lot of elemental energy - you will quickly change your mind. Grounding is the ability to get excess energy out and ground yourself back in reality. This is especially important if you want to work with dreams, spirits, or visions.

Centering goes hand-in-hand with grounding. As a magical practitioner, you do stuff that leaves your energetic body out of sorts. If you are working with real magic, there is also a chance your grasp on reality can be shaken. Centering is a focus on your physical body that gathers all your loose bits and reforms your energetic body back in to its natural shape. Combine it with grounding to get back to the real world.

Shielding is a basic energy work exercise that is also pretty danged important. Learn to shield yourself and how to place shields around other things, people, and locations. This is a vital element of protection.

Charging is the act of filling an object with energy. You can passively charge things by leaving them around natural elements, but you need to learn how to actively charge something as well.

Programing is the process of giving energy a ‘job’. Programing energy is the basis for all spellwork. When you dress a candle, you are filling it with energy and then programing that energy to do a job for you.

strangesigils:

I don’t really know what people generally call this method of sigil making, so I’m just calling it “Letter Shaping” because you’re using the basic shapes from certain letters.
This is the most common form of sigil making, and it allows the most creative influence. As you see above the sigils are for nearly the same thing, yet the sigils came out completely different. Not because the purpose was different, but because I approached them both a different creative way, and that’s what I like so much about this method. There’s a lot of freedom and personalization involved.

(UPDATE: Here’s a link to a guide on how to deconstruct letters down to basic shapes)

strangesigils:

How to use a sigil wheel.

A tutorial.

I rarely use this method myself, but I know people are always looking for tutorials on different methods of sigil making and not finding any.
I’ve had a few different people asking for more graph based sigil making techniques, and this is a fairly well known one that fits that category.
I hope this tutorial is coherent and answers questions instead of making things more confusing. If you have any questions, however, never be afraid to ask.

strangesigils:

This was the first method of sigil making I ever learned, from a post by @the-darkest-of-lights.
I decided to make my own tutorial on it with my spare time.
Happy sigil making! I’ll be making more of these on other methods of sigil making I think, because there’s so many different methods, and this was quite enjoyable to make.

(I know that you can make sigils with the other various planetary numerology squares but honestly I still haven’t figured out how, I only know this one.)

Garden Blessing

wrathfulcalm:

Goal:

To Bless a magical or mundane garden.

Materials:

  • green or brown candle
  • pot of soil (if you can’t be outside)
  • packet of seeds or flowering plant/herb
  • picture of your ideal garden plan
  • smoke cleansing stick
  • salt
  • water

Notes:

This can be done inside with the above items prior to the gardening season, or it can be done outside with just the cleansing stick and the salt and water mixed. If you are inside, visualize the garden and go through the symbolic act of planting something. If you are outside, you can walk the perimeter of your garden space, wafting the cleansing stick and sprinkling the salt/water around the edges of the area you want to bless (be careful not to use too much salt, since it can damage plants). You can say the spell as you are doing this, before, or after. This spell is best done on a sunny day.

  • Green and growing, full of life
  • Bless this garden mine
  • A calm oasis free from strife
  • Touched by gifts divine
  • Let this garden grow and thrive
  • Be free of weed or pest
  • Through seasons changing and alive
  • Like nature’s treasure chest
  • Whether herb or fruit or flower
  • Let plants and seedlings grow
  • Strong and healthy, filled with power
  • Beneath the sun’s bright glow

Notes from Dy: I edited it a little because she did say to use a “sage smudge stick” which I’m not down with for several reasons.

Lily

vayas-witchcraft-and-spiritual:

Magical Properties:

- Lilies are fatally toxic to cats. Some types of lilies are poisonous to humans, too. Most lilies are fine to be touched, so long as they are not ingested, and the sap is not touched. There are a few lily plants that people should avoid contact with: “The California Poison Control System identifies the following as skin-irritating lilies: Crinum lily (Crinum spp.), calla lily, plants in the Lilium family, lily of the valley and the belladonna lily…” (source).
- Lilies are associated with the moon, water, emotion, and love.
- Lilies can be used for protection; they can keep away unwanted visitors, spirits, negativity, and curses. The easiest way to utilise it is to plant it in your garden.
- Lilies can be carried to repel targeted love magic, or used to break spells regarding love.
- This flower can be used in relation to divinity; contacting spirit guides and angels, and aiding in communication with deities.
- They’re also used to bring strength, harmony, and ease.

Aromatherapy:

The essential oil of the lily flower can be used in aromatherapy to treat depression by bringing lighter emotions and creating a sense of safety and security.
